Cross River State ATIKUNATION, the journey so far.
The believe for a new Nigeria is strongly supported by members of Atikunation in Cross River State. Indeed we hold as our ideology that only the Wazirin Adamawa can drive this holistic process of economic, infrastructural, mental, human, religious and social change.
Consequently, in line with our terms of reference as a support group building from that of the National( Atikunation ICG), to popularise and galvanise support from all key players in the political atmosphere, we created activities to drive home our project selflessly and sacrificially.
When the task of coordinating Atikunation in Cross River State was made known and clear to me under the capacity of a State Director, I, together with my workaholic team, carefully selected stakeholders to visit and ask for their support.
We started with Hon. Jude Ogbeche Ngaji- State Security Adviser, Cross River State, members of the National Assembly from the state, Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. John Gaul Lebo, who happens to be speaker of speakers in Nigeria. He promised to do all within his power to convince the entire members of his assembly as well as Nigerian on the choice of Atiku. We also visited all the 24 members of the Cross River State House of Assembly led by Hon. Peter Odinga Odey, Hon Efa Esua, Rt.Hon. Bassey Akiba, and Hon. Regina Anyogo. In all of this, the honourable members promised to work assiduously to make sure Alhaji Atiku Abubakar emerges winner at the primaries.
We equally visited some key members who are opinion moulders and stake holders in Cross River, in the persons of Dr. Sandy Onor the candidate of PDP Central Senatorial District for the 2019 elections, Hon. Okwa Edet, Ambassador Nkoyo Toyo, Dr. DC Enamhe, Engr Pius Okpa, Rt. Hon. Jake Otu Enyia, and Hon. Rita Ayim, In the same vein, we were able to visit some key Commissioners, Special Advisers to the Governor and most importantly we wrote to the Governor informing him of our activities and possible support, of which he responded positively.
In our second strategic plan, we were able to sensitize the public on why the choice of Atiku Abubakar. This we did through periodic public awareness, heavy social media presence, visit to orphanage homes, inauguration of LGA coordinators that got the attention of the state and more so, the South South Zonal Inauguration we hosted that made us got more members to fight this common course.
Most recently, we embarked on voters card sensitization, where we requested INEC through the Deputy State Director, Mrs Beatrice Akonjom to afford us more machines to enable people have their PVCs done. This process was facilitated by Ambassador Nkoyo Toyo, a one time House of Reps Member and an Ambassador.
In all of these, our focus was to popularise and galvanise support for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar sacrificially and selflessly, for which we did without any support from any quaters. More over, it was a period of both internal and external consultation to stakeholders and strong National party players, who are even members of the PDP Board of Trustee and NWC.
We visited the party in the state and met with the party structure. They all promised to work with and for Atiku.
It remains as our core mandate as a state, to deliver His Excellency Alhaji Atiku Abubakar 100% in both the primaries and the general elections, God willing the first phase is passed and we are not resting on our oars on the second phase.
In making this project felt across board, we have 16 State executives, 16 executives from the angle of the physically challenged to give them a sense of belonging, 198 LGA executives that cuts across the 18 LGAs, 2156 ward executives that cuts across the 196 wards of Cross River State, 5000 polling unit ambassadors and a host of many members. Hence, in making this process quite achievable, our women and youths were actively involve and carried along in the whole process of consultation and seeking delegates support. Here, the woman leader Pst Mrs Agnes Usang and the Youth Leader Comr. Modey Ugbuji, carried out different sensitization programme to sell our candidate His, Excellency Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
However, while we pursue this course with vigour and optimism, we are equally faced with enormous challenges ranging from making the Secretariate look presentable with modern day equipment to help us drive our course successfully. We are equally constraint in the aspect of avialable tools for media campaign and above all, sustenance of ourgrassroot team. We are not left out in the challenge of sustaining our numerous activities that will entice voters to our principal.
We are quite aware, that the task of getting the party ticket has come and gone, real work on the electorate must begin in Ernest, and we are not resting on that, as we have been convincing elligeble voters on why the choice of Atiku Abubaka. In this light, we want to reassure His Excellency Alhaji Atiku Abubakar that, we shall do all within our power to make sure project Atiku Abubakar 2019 is realized.
To concretize our zeal and support for His Excellency Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, we took it upon ourselves as a group of committed members, to task ourselves in hosting our principal on his visit to Calabar, the Cross River State Capital, and this, we did to the best we could.
Be that as it may, considering our efforts in making the Atiku dream a reality, it saddens the heart of our teeming supporters that we are almost left out in the scheme of things as it concerns the project at hand. Indeed we have sacrificed alot, ranging from our personal funds to time without help from anybody. It is only fair, that Atikunation in Cross River State be carried along for optimum progress and all round success for the task ahead.
We hope to be actively carried along with our overwhelming structure so as to create in every mind that loves and support our Principal, a total sense of relevance and belonging.
Once again, thank you for finding time to read and God bless you as we anticipate a favorable response from you.
We love you and will always wish you well.
Together we believe, we can make it work.
Hon. Jimmie Aninege
State Director, Atikunation
