Honorable Patrick Uguge declares readiness for House of Representatives
Honorable Patrick Uguge, former member representing Ogoja Constituency in Cross River State House of Assembly, has declared that he is ready to contest and win the primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for election into the National Assembly.

He declared his readiness in a chat with LinCornellah.

Honorable Uguge is vying to represent Ogoja/Yala Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives. He said: “I am submitting myself for election at the primaries in answer to the unending loud calls of my teeming supporters in Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency. They recall my impact as a legislator in the House of Assembly and feel that it is time for me to expand that impact beyond Ogoja by also serving the good people of Yala.

“My supporters rightly feel that I can use my experience to serve them creditably at the national level. I fully understand their needs and I am ready to work towards satisfying those needs. I believe that their support would grant me success.”

The former member of Cross River State House of Assembly described his supporters as “right thinking and dignified members of society who prefer reasonable action to lawlessness and showmanship”.

Consequently, he reiterated optimism about his chance of victory at the forthcoming primaries, since only “statutory delegates” would vote at that stage, according to him. Honorable Uguge said that such delegates are “right thinking and dignified members of society who know that I have all it takes to deliver the dividends of democracy to our people. Their support would also attract popular support for me in next year’s election”.

He stated that unlike some politicians who only wait for the release of election time tables before attempting to placate their supporters by purchasing material things such as motor cycles, sewing machines and vehicles for them, he added value to the lives of his constituents in more meaningful spheres throughout his eight years in office at the Cross River State House of Assembly. He added that he was not selective or biased in that respect

It would be recalled that Honourable Patrick Uguge served as a member of the Cross River State House of Assembly from 2007 to 2015.

Meanwhile, Honorable Jarigbe Agom, member representing Ogoja/Yala Constituency in the House of Representatives is also in the race to retain his seat in the National Assembly. But Honorable Uguge stated that although he respects Honorable Jarigbe as an incumbent member of the National Assembly, incumbency does not guarantee victory.

He said “in a democracy, victory is determined by the voice of the people and the will of God. It is never guaranteed by incumbency. I believe that the people of Ogoja and Yala support me. I also believe that God is with me.”

Honorable Patrick Uguge and other PDP candidates for election into the House of Representatives would know their fates after Sunday, September 30, when the primaries is reportedly scheduled to take place.
