APC describes PDP’s Apology to Nigerians as “Belated Grovelling Apology”
The All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling political party, has described the apology tendered to Nigerians by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as “belated grovelling apology”. The APC’s reaction is contained in a press statement signed and released today by Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary.

The statement is a reaction to yesterday’s admission of shortcomings and tender of apology to Nigerians by the PDP for the party’s shortcomings during its years of rule. PDP’s apology was conveyed by its national Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, during a public event organized by the party. The theme of the event was “Nation Building, Resetting the Agenda”.

Speaking at the event held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, Prince Secondus said: “I am the very first to admit that our party made many mistakes. Consequently, we were roundly sanctioned by Nigerians occasioning our loss at the polls in 2015”

“Let me seize this opportunity to apologize to Nigerians unequivocally for the several shortcomings of our party in the near and far past. It was all part of an evolution process without which there can be no maturity. The PDP has embarked on a rescue mission and together we will salvage this nation back from the grip of the incompetent All Progressives Congress (APC).”

The APC’s reaction is conveyed in this Press Statement:

PRESS STATEMENT

APC: No Evidence of PDP’s Remorse

The All Progressives Congress (APC) acknowledges the apologies by the Peoples Democracy Party (PDP) for the damage the party has wrought on the country’s democratic fabric during its sixteen year rule.

However, despite this belated grovelling apology, PDP will need to come clean, confess to their sins and fully atone for it, before restitution is considered.

As they say, to err is human but forgiveness is divine. We join PDP in praying to God to forgive them, but Nigerians are human who are still suffering from the years of PDP’s misrule.

Therefore, even if Nigerians are gracious enough to forgive, they will not forget in a hurry.

Signed:
Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi
National Publicity Secretary
All Progressives Congress (APC)
