Drive your Dream, Young Woman/Young Man!

Drive your Dream, Young Woman/Young Man!

Before you can drive a dream, it presupposes that you genuinely have one you have placed before you. The reason it is called a dream is because it is possibly an achievement outside your comfort zone; it would possibly involve overcoming certain barriers and challenges.

Think of your dream as a car you drive. You are the driver of the vehicle. Along the way, you get to pick passengers who in some way or the other contribute to your dream. As you move on, others may encourage, support, counsel, suggest, advice and help you, but it is you who eventually need to make THE move to arrive where you want to be.

Do not let yourself be intimidated by others’ definition of who you are or who they think you should be. As much as you listen to others around you, the decision on how best to stir your life, still lies on your shoulders. Others may contribute to your dream, or even use your dream to pursue their own dream. For those who do not contribute to your dream, you have the choice to move on without them. Perhaps, they may in future again contribute to your dream.

Your destiny is in your hand. You want to drive your dream? Learn a trade, learn a skill, do a professional course, upgrade your education, and you will surprise yourself with what you can achieve, as the years go by. You will find yourself exploring new grounds you may never have thought you would venture into. You begin to learn new things about yourself. You will also discover by experience that the learning continues every day, so long as you keep yourself open to life.

Take advantage of opportunities that arise as they may help you get closer or even achieve your set goal and dream. No knowledge is lost. Anything you learn in terms of knowledge and skill always has a way of eventually contributing to the realization of your dream.

Driving your dream is not about doing so to the detriment of others, oppressing others along the way or even just looking down at them. Anyone who comes within your sphere of influence has something to do with your dreams, directly or indirectly. Though you don’t need to force it because anyone meant to play an active or direct role will eventually do so. Just keep your dream in focus, push yourself, do your best, and the universe will do the rest.

As you drive your dream, think about this passage written by an Unknown Author:

“Needed: Men and Women of Character

The world needs men and women…

Who cannot be bought;
Whose word is their bond;
Who put character above wealth;
Who possess opinions and a strong will;

Who are larger than their vocations;
Who do not hesitate to take risks;
Who will not lose their individuality in a crowd;
Who will be as honest in small affairs as in greater;

Who will make no compromise with wrong;
Whose ambitions are not confined to their own selfish desires;
Who won’t say they do it ‘because everybody else does it’;
Who are true to their friends through good and bad,

In adversity as well as in prosperity;
Who do not believe that shrewdness, cunning,
And hard-headedness are the best qualities for winning success;
Who are not ashamed or afraid to stand for the truth when it is unpopular;

Who can say ‘no’ with emphasis, although all the rest of the world say, ‘yes’ ”.
