Giraffes belong to the jungle. They don’t write examinations.
However, when you find them in examination halls,
here are excerpts of what they write:
Good student: A journalist must have nose for news.
Giraffe: A journalist must have NOISE for news.
Good student: The inverted pyramid style of writing begins with the most important information expressed in the lead.
Giraffe: The INVENTED pyramid style of writing begins with the most important information IMPRESSED in the DEAL.
Good student: I was quite impressed with the performance of my group in the class assignment.
Giraffe: I was QUIET impressed with the performance of my group in the class CONSIGNMENT.
Giraffes shouldn’t graduate from school, but they graduate, nowadays;
When they graduate, society suffers.
Academic certificates lose dignity.
Academic institutions get discredited.
Mediocrity gets enthroned.
Corruption gets excused.
Cheating gets fashionable.
Discipline is clownish.
Moral values are lost.
Merit is set aside.
Children find no role models.
Professionalism is discarded.
Hard work is disregarded.
Learning is not achieved.
Character is not reformed/shaped.
Our schools are not jungles;
Let’s uphold schools for what they are.
Let’s shut out giraffes from our classrooms.
Let’s encourage our children to be innovative and original in their thoughts.
Let’s say no to a society of giraffes.
Happy 1st weekend of December 2016 to all my friends!
